Stories like this make you realize how amazing and rare America’s laws on free speech really are.
An Iranian soccer player will be hanged as a punishment of protesting against the death of Mahsa Amini.
Amir Nasr-Azadani, 26, was arrested in November in connection to the murders of a police colonel and two volunteer militia members, according to Iran Wire.
Nasr-Azadani has also been accused of “waging war against God.”
Amini died suddenly in mid-September while in custody after being arrested for allegedly improperly wearing a hijab. Witnesses have said Amini was beaten by Guidance Patrol, but the Iranian government has said she suffered a heart attack.
The International Federation of Professional Footballers (FIFPRO) said they were “shocked and sickened” by the punishment.
“FIFPRO is shocked and sickened by reports that professional footballer Amir Nasr-Azadani faces execution in Iran after campaigning for women’s rights and basic freedom in his country,” the union tweeted on Monday.
“We stand in solidarity with Amir and call for the immediate removal of his punishment.”
Nasr-Azadani will be the 28th person sentenced to death amid the protests — Iran conducted its first execution in relation to the protests on Thursday. Three of those 28 individuals are children
A friend of Saeid Ezatolahi, a member of Iran’s World Cup team, was shot and killed earlier this month while celebrating Iran’s loss to the United States in the group stage of the tournament.
Nasr-Azadani’s last professional appearance came in the 2017-2018 for Tractor Cultural Sports Economic Club in the Persian Gulf Pro League3dddd
ANY American who talks trash about the United States should be sent to places like this. Maybe then you’ll understand just how amazing the US is!
Though I do wonder if Brittney Griner understands this yet.
Still – a one-way ticket would certainly help.
It seems you are missing the point. How do that makes you any better than the Iranian Mullahs?
The main reason we have freedom of speech is so we can address our grievances to our government. I am a citizen and I pay taxes, if I want to complain about the many crappy things we have in our country, it is my right and the ONLY way to make things better and address injustices.
Complaining and peaaceful protest is one thing but people ARE out of control in the US. When you have damage, vandalism, looting, assault, raping, and murder occuring then it is time to take those rights away and start criminalizing activity. This is unacceptable behavior. We need to start making people examples of and holding people accountable and responsible for their actions.
Living in Chicago and LA I am sick to death of the “gutter trash” getting away with anything and everything without repercussions.
We certainly aren’t going to see it resolved as long as we have people like Newsome/London and Pritzger/Lightfoot turning a blind eye to everything, especially with Soro funded judges and DA’s. These politicians should also be in prison with the very criminals running the streets that they are letting this country go to h–l! Indeed we need these criminals and immoral people to be scared! Many don’t even seem to know right from wrong, so teach them the consequences for poor decisions and not just about poor administration/politics.
gee, Iran is almost as bad as the United States woke-a-billies!!!
