Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) became a trending topic on Sunday for her criticism of Christian advertisements that were aired during the Super Bowl.

What were the ads about?

The “He Gets Us” campaign spent $20 million to broadcast two commercials during the annual sporting event.

One of the commercials depicted individuals from diverse backgrounds engaging in heated debates and altercations over political, religious, and justice-related topics, with the message “Jesus loved the people we hate” displayed at the conclusion.

The second advertisement showcased various pictures of children exhibiting kindness and compassion. It was described as follows: “Back in Jesus’ day, children were not seen in the same light as they are now.

This made his teachings on the importance of being childlike go against the norm.

“Jesus didn’t want us to act like adults,” the ad declares.

What did AOC say?

Toward the end of the Super Bowl, Ocasio-Cortez condemned the advertisements and claimed that Jesus would not approve of spending such a large sum of money “to make fascism look benign.”
