Meghan Markle has perhaps one of the most famous names in the world, but you might be surprised to know this is not Prince Harry’s wife’s legal name.
Shortly before she met Prince Harry, Meghan Markle appeared on The Racheal Ray Show for an interview in which she told the host her real name, leaving them in shock. While discussing Suits the famous chef host discussed Suits, and the fact the character Meghan played on the show has the same name as her, being called Rachel Zane by writers.
Sadly, it doesn’t seem Meghan ever got a chance to explain the story behind why she uses her middle name publically.
It has been reported she used the name since her college days, although Meghan seems to suggest her parents called her something other than “Rachel” before she’s cut off by the host.

It has been theorised Meghan went by her middle name because “Rachel” and “Markle” have a weak rhyme, but this has never been confirmed.
Royal watchers and fans of the Duchess were shocked when the birth certificate of her son Archie revealed her full name was “Rachel Meghan Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex”.
In typical royal style, Prince Harry has a very long name with many middle names. His real given name is Prince Henry Charles Albert David.
Since Harry and Meghan both stepped back from their royal roles neither has been permitted to use the HRH style.
