A young woman was rushed to the hospital in critical condition after setting herself on fire outside a 7-Eleven store in Sun Valley, California.

The 30-year-old reportedly went up in flames Tuesday morning near the convenience store on Vineland Avenue and Saticoy Street. It is not yet clear what substance she used to start or possibly accelerate the fire.

Firefighters arrived on the scene around 9:50 a.m., while a crowd had gathered nearby, with many recording the shocking incident on social media. First responders quickly treated the woman before transporting her to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center.

The Los Angeles Police Department has launched an arson investigation, and a large police presence remains in the area as officers continue gathering information.

Authorities have not released an update on the woman’s current condition.
