A tourist had a heart-stopping brush with death after tumbling off a cliff while standing on the edge with his phone in hand. The shocking moment, captured on video, unfolded at the Huaying Mountain Tourist Area in Guang’an, China — a scenic spot known for steep drops and dramatic overlooks.
Witnesses say the man appeared to be trying to take a photo when he stepped too close to the cliff edge. In an instant, he lost his footing and plunged off the side, disappearing from view as horrified onlookers screamed.
Miraculously, he survived.

The hiker later posted on social media to confirm he was alive, describing the terrifying fall in detail. “The mountain gods blessed me,” he wrote. “I fell from a 40-metre-high cliff and rolled down the slope for nearly 15 metres. When the rocks collapsed, I thought I was going to die. It’s so good to be alive.”
Local officials have not released additional details, but the man’s account suggests he narrowly avoided what could have been a fatal drop. The incident is now being shared widely online as a stark reminder of how dangerous it can be to take risks near cliff edges — especially when distracted by a phone.
