Dozens of guests at Disneyland were forced into a tense, hours-long ordeal after becoming trapped on the park’s monorail, prompting an emergency evacuation near Space Mountain.
According to local reports, roughly 60 people were stranded Thursday when the monorail’s central beam lost power, leaving trains stuck on the track near Space Mountain. A resort spokesperson confirmed the outage to Eyewitness News.
Personnel from the Anaheim Fire Department responded shortly before 5 p.m., deploying ladders to safely bring passengers down from the elevated trains, KTLA 5 reported.

Despite the frightening situation, officials said no injuries were reported. All passengers were successfully evacuated by around 7 p.m., according to Anaheim Police Department spokesperson Matt Sutter.
The scope of the disruption became even clearer from above. NBC Los Angeles reported that its helicopter captured footage showing two monorail trains stuck on the track during the incident.
As of publication, Disney has not explained what caused the power outage on the monorail system, which spans roughly 2.5 miles around the park. The Daily Beast has contacted Disney seeking additional details.
For now, guests can breathe a sigh of relief that the incident ended without injuries—but for those trapped high above the park for hours, it was likely a Disney experience they’ll never forget.
