Teen Boy Left Paralyzed After Freak Accident at Trampoline Park

What was supposed to be a fun day out turned into a life-altering nightmare for one family.

A 14-year-old boy in the U.K. was left paralyzed after a devastating accident at a trampoline park, according to his mother.

Eddie Costea was visiting a trampoline park in Peterborough on January 11 when the incident happened. His mom, Stella, says it all unfolded in an instant.

“He tripped on one of the bridges between the trampolines,” she explained. “He lost his balance and went head-first into a block.”

Moments later, the situation turned terrifying.

Stella said she received a frantic call from Eddie’s cousin, who told her her son couldn’t move and was lying on the trampoline with blood on his mouth.

“He said Eddie couldn’t feel his body,” she recalled.

She and her husband rushed to the scene, where multiple ambulances had already arrived. Eddie was taken to the hospital, where scans revealed he had suffered a severe neck injury—a broken vertebra in his spine.

He was transferred overnight for emergency surgery that lasted more than six hours.

Doctors later confirmed the worst.

Eddie had suffered paralysis, and damage to blood vessels in his spine made his condition even more serious.

“It’s been horrible,” Stella said. “Our whole life has been turned upside down.”

She described how her once-active teenage son is now struggling to come to terms with what happened.

“He can’t believe this is his life at 14,” she said. “He’s not a child, not an adult—he just doesn’t understand how this could happen.”

Simple things most people never think about have now become daily challenges. Stella says she has to help turn him in bed every few hours because he no longer has the strength to move on his own.

Eddie is currently undergoing rehabilitation, but doctors have warned he may never walk again.

Now, his mother is speaking out, hoping to raise awareness about the risks.

“You take everything for granted—walking, moving, even turning in bed,” she said.

The trampoline park released a statement saying they are saddened by the incident and emphasized that safety procedures are in place, noting that serious accidents are rare.

But for this family, everything changed in a matter of seconds—and they’re now facing a future they never imagined.
