A California man accused of secretly recording families inside his vacation rental is now facing even more disturbing allegations after detectives say they found horrifying evidence inside his home.
Investigators in Madera County say they uncovered what they described as a life-like child doll designed for sexual use during a search of Christian Parmalee Edwards’ property in Oakhurst earlier this month.
According to authorities, the doll’s hands were tied when it was found.
Detectives also say they discovered newly purchased children’s clothing and thousands of files containing child sexual abuse material during the raid.
Officials believe the case goes far beyond online activity. Law enforcement says Edwards is accused not only of possessing and distributing the illegal material, but also of secretly filming guests staying at his vacation rental during private moments.
Authorities say some of those alleged victims included women and children staying in the lower levels of the home.
The investigation reportedly began after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children flagged suspected online distribution activity connected to Oakhurst.
From there, detectives moved in and searched the property, where they say they seized around 30 digital devices. Those devices are now being forensically examined as investigators work to uncover the full scope of the case.
A spokesperson for the sheriff’s office said the evidence found at the home points to what authorities see as an escalation in behavior, moving from digital material to hidden recording and potentially beyond.
The case is now being handled alongside the Central California Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, and officials say they are still working to identify any additional possible victims.
Sheriff Tyson Pogue said protecting innocent people and holding offenders accountable remains a top priority for his department.
The shocking case comes as investigators continue warning about the growing scale of online child exploitation. Officials say the number of reported cases has surged in recent years, making investigations like this one even more urgent.
