A heartbreaking crash in Arizona has left two young children dead and their mother clinging to life after a chain-reaction collision that unfolded in seconds.

The tragedy happened around 7:30 a.m. on April 7 in Sierra Vista, near Tucson, when three vehicles collided in a violent crash that quickly turned chaotic.

Police say the mother, who has not been publicly identified, was behind the wheel of a white sedan with her two children inside. Investigators believe her car ran a red light—slamming into a white pickup truck that was pulling a trailer.

The impact was so intense it sent both vehicles spinning, triggering a second collision with a gold sedan nearby. The pickup truck flipped onto its side and even caught fire before emergency crews rushed in to put out the flames.

Authorities now say a possible medical episode may have played a role in what led to the crash.

The outcome was devastating.

The two children, reportedly just 7 and 9 years old, were rushed to the hospital but did not survive. Their mother suffered life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to a trauma center, where she remains in critical condition.

The loss has shaken the local community, especially after it was confirmed the children were students at Bella Vista Elementary School.

Witnesses described a scene of pure horror.

“One moment everything was normal, and then suddenly there was chaos,” one nearby resident said, recalling the aftermath. Another witness said the truck appeared to “leap into the air” during the crash.

When bystanders rushed to help, the scene inside the white sedan was even more disturbing.

The driver was found slumped beneath the steering wheel, covered in blood, with airbags deployed throughout the vehicle.

Meanwhile, a passenger in the pickup truck was also taken to the hospital, though their injuries were not considered life-threatening.
