Angry 71-Year-Old Passenger Slaps Flight Attendant in Shocking Incident

A routine flight turned into mid-air madness when an elderly passenger lashed out at a flight attendant in a shocking incident caught on camera.

The drama unfolded on April 3 aboard a Tigerair Taiwan flight traveling from Fukushima, Japan to Taipei, Taiwan. As the plane began its descent, passengers were instructed to remain seated with their seatbelts fastened — but one traveler had other plans.

A 71-year-old woman, identified only by her surname Zhang, reportedly stood up in the aisle to put on her shoes, ignoring repeated safety instructions. That’s when things spiraled.

A 33-year-old flight attendant, surnamed Liu, was conducting final cabin checks when she accidentally bumped into Zhang. What should have been a minor moment quickly escalated into a heated confrontation.

Witnesses say Zhang became visibly agitated, yelling at the crew member despite repeated apologies. The flight attendant even tried to de-escalate the situation by offering ice packs and medical assistance — but it didn’t work.

“The flight attendant asked if she needed a doctor, and she said it wasn’t serious, but she continued yelling,” one passenger recalled, praising the crew member’s calm response.

Then came the moment that stunned everyone onboard.

Video shows Zhang suddenly striking the flight attendant across the face, leaving nearby crew members in shock. The slap triggered immediate action, with staff alerting authorities before the plane even touched down.

When the aircraft landed at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, police boarded the plane and took Zhang into custody.

In a bizarre twist, both the passenger and the flight attendant have filed assault complaints against each other. The crew member is also reportedly pursuing additional legal action over public insult.

Tigerair Taiwan didn’t hold back in its response, condemning the incident and vowing to stand behind its employee.

“Such behavior seriously violates employee dignity and personal safety,” an airline spokesperson said, adding that legal support has been provided to the flight attendant.
