A terrifying construction disaster was caught on video in Philadelphia — and the aftermath is as heartbreaking as it is shocking.
Newly surfaced footage shows the exact moment a parking garage under construction suddenly gave way, triggering a catastrophic collapse that killed one worker and left two others missing and feared dead.
The incident happened Wednesday afternoon at a job site tied to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where crews were building a multi-level parking structure. Video from the scene shows the stairwell — spanning all seven floors — crumbling one level after another after a roof section suddenly failed.
Within seconds, the structure came crashing down.
Emergency responders rushed to the site and managed to pull three workers from the wreckage. All were taken to the hospital, but one later died from his injuries. The other two have since been released.
Tragically, two more workers remain unaccounted for.
Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle L. Parker confirmed Thursday night that search efforts, including the use of trained dogs, now suggest the missing workers are likely buried beneath the debris.
“We grieve their loss tonight,” Parker said, adding that the victims were all members of Ironworkers Local 401.

Crews are now preparing to begin a controlled demolition of what remains of the unstable structure in hopes of recovering the missing workers with dignity.
Officials say the collapse appears to have been triggered when a massive precast concrete roof segment failed and crashed down to a lower level, setting off a chain reaction that brought down the entire stairwell.
The components had been manufactured off-site and were being installed at the time of the collapse by a subcontractor.
Investigators from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are already on scene and are expected to lead a full investigation into what went wrong.
“We will get to the bottom of what happened here,” Parker said, vowing a thorough and transparent probe.
The collapse has also reignited concerns from local residents, who previously pushed back against the project over traffic and environmental issues.
For now, a stretch of Grays Ferry Avenue remains shut down as crews continue their grim work — searching through the rubble, hoping to bring closure to families waiting for answers.

They actually just got on live TV and admitted their inspectors and inspection protocols are pure garbage while trying to cover their behinds! Do these people even listen to what they’re saying or even realize what they just admitted to everyone???!!!
