After a Tesla hit two girls who were selling cookies on Saturday, fellow Girl Scouts are rallying to their aid.
According to Linda Farley, the CEO of Girl Scouts Heart of Central California, the organization plans to donate the proceeds from cookie sales to the injured girls, covering the amount they would have earned themselves.
According to Linda Farley, those who wish to assist can purchase Girl Scout cookies from the girls supporting the injured girls in Granite Bay and Roseville.
It remains unclear whether the woman injured in the accident is recovering. The incident occurred around 4 p.m. on Saturday at the entrance of the Walmart on Douglas and Sierra College boulevards, where the Girl Scouts had set up a stand.
The two young girls, ages 9 and 10, sustained moderate injuries, while a 76-year-old woman suffered major injuries. All three were transported to the hospital.
Gary L. Benson, the 69-year-old driver of the Tesla, was apprehended on-site and faces charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and causing injuries.
He will be remanded to Placer County Jail for these felonies. To offer well-wishes to the injured girls, Farley suggested sending cards to 6601 Elvas Avenue, Sacramento, CA 95819.
