Former President Donald Trump has suggested that he will not be charged in connection to the ongoing Stormy Daniels hush money investigation against him, according to RadarOnline.com.
Speaking to reporters on Saturday after a rally in Texas, Trump claimed that the Manhattan District Attorney’s office had already dropped the case.
However, he appeared to contradict himself later on his social media platform, Truth Social, saying that he expects to be charged in the investigation but that the allegations against him are baseless.
The Manhattan grand jury is currently considering criminal charges against Trump relating to allegations that he paid adult film star Stormy Daniels $130,000 from campaign funds to keep quiet about an alleged affair between the pair before the 2016 presidential election.
The grand jury is set to reconvene on Monday after being ordered not to meet last Wednesday and Thursday by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
Sources familiar with the investigation have claimed that prosecutors are struggling to convince the grand jury to charge Trump with financial crimes related to the alleged hush money payments.
One source said that the case is weak and has caused divisions in the district attorney’s office.
