The pair stated that they are not currently seeking a divorce and discussed their plans for a trial separation in an interview with The New York Times. De Blasio’s Mayoral Experience Has Taken a Toll

De Blasio, 62, opened up about the demanding schedule and ongoing expectations that come with being mayor during the interview. The influence of these things on their marriage was acknowledged by the man, who said, “Everything was this overwhelming schedule, this sort of series of tasks… And that kind of took away a little bit of our soul.”

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, which left him emotionally vulnerable and disrupted their relationship, De Blasio also revealed that he had sought treatment. The pair expressed regret for delaying dealing with problems in their relationship and acknowledged wasted chances to speak honestly and take care of one another’s needs.

The couple disclosed that after binge-watching TV one evening, they brought up the idea of separating for the first time. De Blasio previously shown interest in running for governor of New York but then changed his mind. He was mayor of New York City from 2014 to 2021. He declared that battling state inequity and providing for the public good remain his top priorities.
