After making a statement regarding Florida’s middle school curriculum, Vice President Kamala Harris found herself in the spotlight for saying that students would learn about how slaves “benefited from slavery.” Political journalist Scott Jennings on CNN accused the statement of fabrication and sparked a firestorm of dispute.

A few days earlier, during a conversation on Florida’s new history courses, Harris made the comments. She voiced her worries, claiming that radical leaders were promoting misinformation to kids and substituting lies for history. For the sake of American children’s wellbeing, the vice president underlined the importance of teaching factual history and role models for the right strategy.

When he appeared on CNN, Jennings chastised Harris for snatching up a “completely made-up deal.” He claimed to have examined the analyses and curriculum standards, as well as quotes from the African-American academics who wrote the standards. Jennings claims that the idea that the curriculum implied enslaved people profited from slavery was denied by all parties concerned, including the experts.

Additionally, Harris was supported by Ashley Allison, another CNN contributor on the panel, who defended Harris’ claims. In Florida, where Governor Ron DeSantis had proposed a “anti-woke bill” and other divisive legislation, she drew attention to the state’s larger backdrop. Allison emphasized that despite the fact that slavery is included in the curriculum, slaves did not profit from it. She stated that they were denied fundamental human rights and lacked the freedom to make their own decisions.

The conversation sparked concerns about the objectivity and tactfulness of teaching history, particularly when it came to the subject of slavery. Despite Harris’ best efforts to address the issue of truthful historical portrayal, her comments sparked political debate, with some charging that she fabricated events.

Diverse viewpoints on how to teach children about the intricate history of the country are being discussed in the ongoing debate around the Florida middle school curriculum. The debate emphasizes the continuous difficulties in developing a fair and inclusive method for teaching historical events while ensuring that the truth is conveyed objectively and without bias. It is crucial that as the conversation progresses, academics, decision-makers, and the general public engage in fruitful debates that advance a greater comprehension of America’s past and its long-lasting influence on the present.

  1. Clique Bait…Much? “CNN Skewers Kamala Harris Over Big Lie”
What kinda Tagline is that? Right Wing BULL crap? Give the Vice President some respect.

    1. The offspring of slaves DID BENEFIT by already being in a country that everyone in Africa is still trying to sneak into!
KamalToe was appointed as Border Czar and she has TOTALLY FAILED at that task!
In fact, she has failed at every task and now only concerns herself with airline toilets!
No wonder her popularity is always down near ZERO from all parties!

  2. This is crap. I am a Floridian and ever since DeSantis 2nd term and his desire (need) to attract Trump’s most despicable supporters for his presidential run, one of his objectives is to sanitize slavery and demonize immigrants and LGTB.
The Florida new version of African Studies is very narrow in scope and misleading and as a Republican myself, I am very disappointed in the direction my party has taken and the efforts from right wing media to justify the unjustifiable.
It is a very thin line between current GOP and Fascism and I think they already crossed

  3. Kamala has had the best liars to learn from, Bumbling Biden, Horrible Hillary, Nutty Nancy, and Screwy Schummer.

    1. Don’t forget her original mentor: the 30 years older, notorious, horrible, criminal, criminals protector Willie Brown, a close friend of mass murderer Jim Jones (900+ dead)…
