Hunter Biden is facing strong opposition from House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan and House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, who both threaten to hold him in contempt of Congress. The main point of contention is that Biden’s attorney is demanding a public hearing despite the senator’s reluctance to speak in private. The conflict between congressmen and the president’s son heightens the strain in the current investigations.

The subpoena and testimony request: On December 13, Comeer, a Republican from Kentucky, had served Hunter Biden with a subpoena demanding an in-person deposition. But last Monday, Biden’s lawyer, Abbe Lowell, informed me that his client would only provide testimony in a public hearing. There is currently a standoff between the parties as a result of the failure to cooperate with the closed-door deposition.

Hunter Biden’s Request for Public Testimony:
Hunter Biden is willing to testify on the designated date or another date in December, but only in a public hearing, according to a letter written by Lowell to Comer. Lowell voiced worries about the manipulation of private meetings to twist information and mislead the public. He underlined that holding a public hearing would guarantee the processes’ honesty and openness.

Republican Reaction and Contempt Threat: In response to Lowell’s letter, Comeer and Jordan said that the subpoenas forced Hunter Biden to attend for a deposition behind closed doors on December 13 and rejected the request for a public hearing. Hunter Biden is under duress from the Republican congressmen, who threatened to hold him in contempt of Congress if he did not comply with the subpoena and show up for the deposition.

Regarding the Debate Around Closed-Door Sessions:
Comer and Jordan’s insistence on a deposition behind closed doors is indicative of their opinions regarding the conventional handling of such testimonies. They contend that transparency would be achieved by making available a transcript soon after the meeting behind closed doors. However, Hunter Biden’s legal team argues that open forums are necessary to guard against bias and provide an impartial presentation of the evidence.

  1. Who do the Biden`s think they are? He should be jailed on this alone. He can`t give orders like this . No one can.
