Dentist Gunned Down by Disgruntled Patient

Tragedy struck at Smile Plus Dentistry & Orthodontics in El Cajon, California, as a dentist was shot and killed in what appears to be a meticulously planned attack by a disgruntled former patient. According to authorities, Mohammed Abdulkareem, 29, entered the dental office clad in all-black attire and opened fire around 4:15 p.m., targeting three individuals, including the dentist, Dr. Benjamin Harouni. The swift and brazen attack resulted in the death of Dr. Harouni, a beloved member of the community and a dedicated professional. The other victims, receptionist Yareli Carrillo, 28, and another man in his 40s, sustained serious injuries but are reportedly in stable condition after being rushed to the hospital.

The motive behind the shooting remains under investigation, although police suspect that Abdulkareem’s actions stemmed from dissatisfaction with his prior dental treatment. Records indicate that Abdulkareem legally purchased a handgun just two weeks before the attack and rented a U-Haul truck just an hour prior to carrying out the shooting, suggesting premeditation and planning.

The swift response from law enforcement, coupled with the assistance of vigilant citizens, led to Abdulkareem’s apprehension approximately five hours after the shooting. He was found near the abandoned U-Haul truck in San Diego, armed and dangerous, with a loaded handgun and multiple handgun magazines in his possession.
