A California man has been arrested after allegedly filming women without their consent inside the fitting rooms of a Target store in Thousand Oaks.
Jack Crawford, 25, was taken into custody and charged with eight counts of invasion of privacy, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday, Sept. 19.
Police say the investigation began on June 5, when a woman spotted a cell phone camera being held over the wall of her fitting room at the Target on Teller Road. She yelled out, and the phone was quickly pulled back. Store security footage later identified Crawford as the suspect.
Detectives with the Sexual Assault Unit obtained a search warrant for Crawford’s phone, which revealed evidence of multiple incidents. Authorities believe he secretly recorded women at the store on at least three separate occasions: May 12, June 2, and June 5.
So far, investigators have identified eight unknown female victims. Crawford was booked into the East County Jail and now faces multiple charges tied to the alleged recordings.
Police are urging anyone with information to contact Detective Nicole Adrianzen at (805) 494-8229 or Nicole.adrianzen@venturacounty.gov. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477).
