Chaos erupted at London’s Heathrow Airport on Sunday morning after a woman was allegedly robbed of her suitcase and a group of people were sprayed with what authorities believe was pepper spray, leaving 21 injured.

The terrifying incident unfolded around 8:11 a.m. in the Terminal 3 multi-story car park. Armed police rushed to the scene after reports of a “escalated argument” that quickly turned violent. Witnesses described coughing and burning sensations in their throats, with one passenger saying, “I thought I was in a terrorist attack.”

Emergency services treated 21 people, including a three-year-old girl, and transported five to nearby hospitals. Thankfully, none of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

Police believe the attack involved four men who were known to each other. A 31-year-old man was arrested at the scene, while authorities launched a manhunt for the remaining suspects. Officials emphasized that the incident is not being treated as terror-related.

Commander Peter Stevens of the Metropolitan Police said the woman was robbed inside a car park lift, and those in the surrounding area were affected by the pepper spray. He praised the quick response of emergency services and Heathrow staff in handling the chaotic situation.

The attack caused major disruptions at the airport, with passengers waiting hours for taxis and shuttle buses. London travel correspondent Simon Calder reported that several travelers missed flights due to closures of key transport links.

Police are appealing to anyone with information about the incident to come forward, urging witnesses to call 101 and quote CAD 1803 7 DEC.
