Fighters get hurt all the time, but some injuries are so gruesome they make fans wince just watching. That’s exactly what happened in Brazil on Saturday at SFT 58 during a featherweight clash between Pedro Morais and Igor Elizeu.
Just over a minute into the opening round, the two were trading leg kicks when disaster struck. After Morais launched a kick, Elizeu fired back—but the moment his foot hit the target, his leg snapped and twisted backward as he tried to set it down on the canvas. The referee immediately jumped in to stop the fight as Elizeu writhed in pain from the horrific break.

Leg injuries like this are rare, but they’ve shocked the MMA world before. Most famously, Anderson Silva suffered a similar broken leg against Chris Weidman in 2013, and in an eerie echo, Weidman himself broke his leg years later while throwing a kick against Uriah Hall in 2021.
Both Silva and Weidman eventually recovered and returned to the octagon, giving fans hope that Elizeu can do the same after enduring one of the most stomach-churning injuries in MMA history.
