Politician Has Meltdown During Traffic Stop in Viral Bodycam Footage

A former Rhode Island mayoral candidate is facing backlash after bodycam footage surfaced showing her berating a police officer during a tense traffic stop — including calling him a “d–k” and pulling out the classic “Do you know who I am?” line.

The incident happened on December 18, when Maria Bucci, the current chair of the Cranston Democratic City Committee, was pulled over by police in East Greenwich, Rhode Island. From the moment the officer approached the car, things went downhill fast.

Once the officer activated his body camera, Bucci’s attitude was on full display. Video shows her making faces and snapping back as the officer told her she smelled like alcohol and had been driving erratically. Bucci repeatedly accused the officer of embarrassing her and the friend who was riding with her.

When the officer calmly explained he was just doing his job, Bucci leaned into the confrontation, asking if he knew who she was. The officer shut that down immediately, telling her he didn’t know her and warning that name-dropping wasn’t going to help her situation.

As the stop continued, the officer asked Bucci to perform field sobriety tests, leading to more heated back-and-forth. She eventually agreed to comply, but only after prolonged resistance and continued arguing.

Things escalated further as Bucci became increasingly agitated. At one point, she completely lost her composure before being handcuffed and placed in the back of a patrol car.

According to online court records, Bucci was cited for refusing to submit to a chemical test, violating lane roadway rules, and operating a vehicle without proof of insurance. The footage has since circulated online, drawing sharp criticism and reigniting debates over entitlement, accountability, and how public officials behave when confronted by law enforcement.
