Melania Trump’s big Hollywood moment is arriving with controversy instead of red carpets.

Posters advertising the upcoming documentary Melania have been repeatedly vandalized across Los Angeles, with the First Lady’s face defaced by crude messages, Hitler-style mustaches, and references to Adolf Hitler’s wife, Eva Braun.

According to NBC4 Los Angeles, the attacks have been so widespread that LA Metro officials are scrambling to contain the damage. The city’s transit agency confirmed a sharp spike in vandalism targeting buses and bus stops displaying ads for the film, prompting officials to quietly reroute buses away from areas where the defacing has been most intense.

“After seeing significant vandalism at city bus stops on advertising for the ‘Melania’ movie, Metro proactively reassigned some of the buses containing that advertising to other geographic areas to minimize potential vandalism,” the agency said in a statement.

While Metro doesn’t control the bus stops themselves, officials acknowledged that the vandalism has appeared “all over the city,” creating a logistical and political headache just days before the film’s release.

The controversy hasn’t been limited to transit ads. At least one large billboard promoting the documentary was also defaced, with activist art collective INDECLINE publicly taking credit for the stunt. The group has a long history of provocative installations aimed at the Trump administration and its allies.

The documentary marks a major career step for Melania Trump, who announced the launch of her own production company last year. Directed by Brett RatnerMelania is her first major project and promises a rare behind-the-scenes look at her life in the weeks leading up to the 2025 presidential inauguration of her husband, Donald Trump.

The film opens tomorrow after Amazon MGM Studios reportedly paid $40 million for distribution rights — a massive bet that’s now being overshadowed by street-level backlash instead of box office buzz.

Whether the vandalism fuels interest or damages the film’s rollout remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: Melania Trump’s Hollywood debut has already ignited a firestorm before audiences even see a single frame.
