Teen Goes on Stabbing Rampage at University Leaving Multiple People Injured

Several people, including students, were injured after a teenager went on a knife attack inside a university dormitory in Russia over the weekend, triggering a major police response and an international diplomatic reaction.

Authorities say the incident happened Saturday at a dormitory of the State Medical University in Ufa, the capital of Russia’s Bashkortostan Republic, roughly 750 miles east of Moscow.

According to reports, a 15-year-old boy entered the dorm armed with a knife and began attacking students. Witnesses and local outlets said the teen shouted nationalist slogans during the assault and drew a Nazi symbol at the scene.

Russia’s Interior Ministry said the suspect resisted arrest, injuring officers as police moved in.

“The attacker resisted arrest, during which two police officers were stabbed,” Interior Ministry spokesperson Major General Irina Volk told Russian outlet RTVI. “Furthermore, the suspect also inflicted bodily harm on himself.”

The teen was taken to a local children’s hospital in serious condition.

At least six people were injured in the attack, with four rushed to the hospital. One victim was reported to be in critical condition. Officials confirmed that several of those hurt were international students.

India’s embassy in Moscow said four Indian students were among the injured.

“An unfortunate incident of attack has occurred in Ufa,” the embassy said in a statement. “Several persons including four Indian students have been injured.”

The embassy added that it was in contact with Russian authorities and that officials from the Indian consulate in Kazan were traveling to Ufa to assist the injured students.

Eyewitnesses described chaotic scenes inside the dormitory.

“There was blood all around,” one witness said, as Russian television aired footage showing injured students being loaded into ambulances.

Local authorities have launched a high-level investigation into the attack. Russian media outlet Baza reported that the suspect may have had ties to a banned neo-Nazi group, though officials have not publicly confirmed that detail.

The incident has rattled Russia’s large international student community. According to Indian media, more than 30,000 Indian students are currently enrolled at universities across Russia.

The investigation remains ongoing as officials work to determine what led to the attack and whether additional charges will be filed.
