A 12-year-old Georgia girl has died days after a violent fight with another student that was captured on cellphone video, leaving her family devastated and a community searching for answers.

Jada West, a student at Mason Creek Middle School, collapsed after the altercation on March 5 near her home in Villa Rica, a city west of Atlanta. According to local reports, she later died from a brain injury linked to the fight.

The confrontation reportedly began earlier in the day at school before continuing on a school bus ride home. Both girls were eventually ordered off the bus around 5 p.m., where the argument quickly escalated into a physical fight.

Cellphone footage shared online by Jada’s aunt, De’Quala McClendon, shows the two girls exchanging heated words as other students gather around.

“She done made all these people get off the bus,” someone filming the video can be heard saying.

Jada appears confused during the argument and tells others she doesn’t even know the girl she’s facing. Bystanders can be heard reacting as tensions build.

“Who is gonna fight you over some noise?” one student asks from the crowd.

The other girl responds aggressively, saying, “Everybody know I kick a– so please don’t start with me,” just moments before the fight begins.

The video shows the two students throwing punches and slaps before they tumble to the ground with a loud thud. Friends watching nearby can be heard shouting in shock.

“Oh my God, Jada!” one voice cries out as the girl falls backward.

Although Jada was able to stand up and walk away from the scene, the situation quickly turned serious. According to her family, she collapsed shortly afterward and had to be rushed to the hospital when her heart suddenly stopped.

Her aunt later posted heartbreaking footage showing the young girl lying in a hospital bed connected to medical equipment after suffering severe brain damage.

“It may seem like a normal fight, but before my niece could make it home, her heart stopped,” McClendon wrote in a Facebook post shared before Jada’s death.

Family members say the girls had never met before the confrontation. The argument reportedly started at school and continued during the bus ride before turning violent once they were off the bus.

Jada’s mother has also spoken out, claiming her daughter had been dealing with bullying since recently transferring to the school.

“They failed my sister’s child because we are broken by this,” McClendon wrote in another emotional post. “Someone who has never been in trouble or a fight but stood her ground against a bully.”

Authorities have not yet released all the details surrounding Jada’s death, including the exact timeline of events following the fight. As of now, no charges have been filed and the other individuals seen in the video have not been publicly identified.

The Villa Rica Police Department confirmed it is investigating the incident alongside the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office.

Meanwhile, the local school district said it was “deeply saddened” by the tragedy.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences and prayers to her family and loved ones during this difficult time,” a district spokesperson said in a statement. “She will be remembered by her teachers, her classmates, and all who knew her.”

School officials also noted that because the fight happened after dismissal and off school property, the case is currently being handled by law enforcement.
