A Maryland woman is facing a wave of outrage after she was accused of calling ICE on six Guatemalan workers who were in the middle of remodeling her home.
According to reports, the men were detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement on March 25 while working at the property. The workers, who ranged in age from 18 to 40, had reportedly traveled from Glen Burnie that morning to begin the job when immigration agents showed up.
And the entire scene quickly turned into a viral flashpoint.
A co-worker identified as Bryan Polanco livestreamed the incident for roughly 30 minutes, capturing the chaotic aftermath as masked ICE agents surrounded the home and detained the workers. Polanco was not arrested because he has permanent residency in the United States.
In the video, agents can reportedly be seen around the house while the workers sit on the ground nearby. At one point, Polanco also turned the camera toward the homeowner, who was allegedly outside cleaning up her yard as the arrests unfolded.
By the end of the video, the worksite appeared abandoned—tarps, a ladder, and the workers’ vehicle, still packed with tools, left sitting outside the home.

Polanco told Univision the group had arrived ready to start the project when everything suddenly changed.
He also claimed the homeowner made her position crystal clear.
According to Polanco, she allegedly said that if immigrants came back to finish the project, she would call ICE again.
That claim has only added fuel to the backlash.
The story has struck an even deeper nerve because of who the workers were and what they were working for. One of the detained men reportedly has two children and a pregnant wife at home. His wife told Univision that her husband and the others came to the United States to build a better life—not to cause trouble.
Online, the reaction was swift and furious.
Social media users blasted the homeowner, with many accusing her of exploiting workers and then turning on them. Others questioned whether someone who knowingly hired undocumented labor should also face consequences.
For critics, the case has come to represent something bigger than one arrest. It has become a flashpoint in the debate over immigration, labor, and whether vulnerable workers are being used—and discarded—when it is convenient.

I guess they should have come here legally to make a better life! You don’t ignore our laws and then claim there should be no consequences for your actions that violate our laws! I am tired of listening to the sob stories of people who have no regard for our laws and believe there should be no repercussions for breaking those laws!
Was working on building a hotel a few years ago, out of 150 workers, only about 3 of us spoke English… we would have been fired if we said anything…
So sick of this, if you’re illegal you should have ICE called we have laws, follow them. They made the choice to come illegally now come the consequences I don’t feel sorry for them. I do wonder how much in benefits taxpayers paid until they were caught, sick of resources being wasted that are meant for Americans. MSM just can’t call them what they are illegal NOT the Maryland man and bs like that.
