A 21-year-old man was trying to show off his brand-new car when the stunt ended in a terrifying crash that nearly killed his friend.
The shocking incident happened on Feb. 28 near Edmundbyers, England, when the young driver took his new car out on a remote country road so his friend could snap photos. But as he came flying around a tight bend, everything went horribly wrong.
Police said the driver lost control, crossed into the opposite lane, and slammed straight into his friend, who was standing on the grass taking pictures.
After hitting him, the driver then crashed the car into a stone wall.
Bodycam footage released by Durham Constabulary captured the aftermath, with the driver calling emergency services and admitting he had just hit his friend at 60 mph before smashing into the wall.
When officers arrived, they found the car badly wrecked with both front airbags deployed. They then spoke with the injured friend, who was being treated in the back of an ambulance.
Miraculously, the victim survived.

Police said he escaped with only minor injuries, but made it clear the outcome could have been far worse. Authorities said the man avoided a deadly collision by mere inches, thanks to pure luck and quick reactions.
Even more chilling, police noted that if another car had been coming the other way, the crash could have turned into an even bigger disaster.
The injured friend later told officers that he and the driver had been using radios to communicate and make sure the road was clear while they took the photos.
He said he was standing near the bend when the driver came around too fast.
The driver admitted he had only had his license for eight months. He told police he had just gotten the car and wanted to take some pictures, but realized too late that he had taken the corner too fast.
An officer did not hold back while questioning him.
“I’m not going to sugarcoat it,” the officer said. “You could have killed your mate.”
To make matters worse, the driver’s mother could be heard saying the car was only three days old and was already a total loss.
The young driver was cited for dangerous driving and told by police to treat the crash as a serious lesson about responsibility behind the wheel.

A driver’s license for 8 months and drives like this? His license should be revoked for 5 years. Hopefully his parents won’t buy him another car.
