A Domino’s delivery run in Missouri allegedly turned violent after a dispute over a tip — and now the driver is facing serious charges.
Police say 36-year-old Zachary Nicholus Walton was arrested and booked into the Callaway County Jail without bond after allegedly using his car to hit a man during an argument outside a home in Fulton.
The incident unfolded on April 29 around 7:20 p.m., when officers responded to what was initially reported as an “accident with injuries.” But according to investigators, it was anything but accidental.
A witness told police the delivery driver became enraged after not receiving a tip and struck the victim with his vehicle. The man reportedly suffered visible injuries to his hand and later told officers he was in pain and believed he had scrapes on his shin.
According to a probable cause statement, the situation escalated quickly. The victim said Walton got into a heated verbal confrontation before allegedly driving forward on purpose, hitting him and forcing him to jump onto the hood to avoid more serious injury.
Video footage from the scene appears to back up those claims. Investigators say Walton can be heard shouting profanities, calling the victim and witness “rude,” and taunting them as he got into his car.
Moments later, Walton allegedly reversed, then suddenly accelerated forward, striking the victim before speeding away from the scene.
Police later tracked him down at a Domino’s location, where he allegedly admitted to driving toward the victim to “scare him” and acknowledged leaving the scene afterward.
Authorities say the incident raises serious concerns about public safety.
In court documents, officials wrote that Walton “poses a danger to the victim and the community,” pointing to the fact that he allegedly used a vehicle as a weapon and fled without contacting law enforcement.
Records also show Walton has a prior conviction involving domestic assault and false imprisonment.
He appeared in court via video on May 1 without an attorney. His next hearing is scheduled for May 6.
The case is now moving forward as prosecutors weigh the full scope of charges tied to the shocking confrontation — one that reportedly started over something as small as a missing tip.
