A bride-to-be has died in a heartbreaking car crash while celebrating her bachelorette party in Greece just days before she was supposed to get married.

Sara Ceccantini, 37, was vacationing on the Mediterranean island of Mykonos when the car she was riding in collided with another vehicle, according to Greek publication To Vima.

The crash reportedly happened during the night between Sunday, June 14, and Monday, June 15, according to Sky TG24 and Italian outlet Today.

Ceccantini, an Italian citizen from Arezzo, was one of four passengers inside the vehicle. She was sitting in the back seat when the crash occurred, To Vima reported.

The exact circumstances of the collision remain under investigation by Greek authorities.

Ceccantini was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, but she later died from her injuries, according to Sky TG24.

One of her friends was also injured in the crash and remains hospitalized, according to Sky TG24 and Today.

The tragedy happened just days before Ceccantini was set to marry her fiancé, Luca Bugialli. The couple was scheduled to wed on Saturday, June 20, in Civitella in Val di Chiana.

Ceccantini is survived by a young daughter, reportedly around 3 years old.

Her death has devastated her hometown and surrounding communities in Italy.

Marcello Comanducci, the mayor of Arezzo, said the news left the community “speechless” in a Facebook statement.

“Sara’s tragic passing has profoundly affected our entire community,” the translated post said. “A young life cut short too soon, just as she was preparing to experience one of the most beautiful moments of her life. I extend my deepest sympathy to her family, loved ones, and all those who loved her.”

Ceccantini worked for the Prada Group in Valvigna. After learning of her death, Prada owner Patrizio Bertelli reportedly closed the factory at 3 p.m. local time as a sign of mourning, according to Sky TG24.

The Municipality of San Giovanni Valdarno, located near Arezzo, also paid tribute to Ceccantini, saying the news had “sparked shock and grief throughout the Valdarno area.”

“Our community is shocked by the tragic death of Sara Ceccantini, the victim of a car accident in Greece just days before her wedding,” the translated post said.

The municipality described Ceccantini as “a young woman, a respected and appreciated professional.”

“On Saturday, she was supposed to marry Luca Bugialli,” the statement continued, noting that Bugialli’s father has a business in San Giovanni.

“The entire community of San Giovanni Valdarno extends its heartfelt sympathy to Sara’s family, her young daughter, Luca, and all their loved ones, sharing a grief that has profoundly affected our region,” the post said.
