Mercedes Driver Knocked Unconscious in Crazy Street Brawl with Skateboarder (Video)

A chaotic street fight between a skateboarder and a Mercedes driver erupted in Manhattan’s East Village this week, ending with the motorist unconscious in a headlock as stunned bystanders watched.

The wild confrontation unfolded Tuesday along St. Marks Place near Second Avenue and was captured in a one-minute video that later went viral on X.

The clip shows the skateboard changing hands several times as both men used it as a weapon. At one point, the skateboarder repeatedly struck the Mercedes before the driver grabbed the board and hit him with it. The fight ultimately ended with the driver on the ground and trapped in a headlock.

“Holy f—k, New York is lit!” freelance photographer Michael O’Hara, 35, exclaimed at the end of the footage, which he posted early Wednesday.

O’Hara told the New York Post that he did not see exactly what sparked the confrontation. However, witnesses reportedly told him the 34-year-old driver had nearly struck the blond-haired skateboarder and another man with his SUV.

At first, the argument appeared to be little more than a typical New York City shouting match. That quickly changed when the skateboarder picked up his board and smashed the Mercedes’ windshield, O’Hara said.

“I’ve seen some crazy s—t in Florida, but I’ve never seen anyone once put a skateboard through a window,” the Florida native joked.

O’Hara’s video begins shortly after the windshield was damaged. It shows the skateboarder striking the vehicle two more times before throwing the board against the SUV.

When the skateboard bounced onto the sidewalk, the furious driver climbed out of the Mercedes, picked it up and slammed it into the skateboarder’s body.

The two men then began awkwardly wrestling in the street before the skateboarder managed to throw the driver to the ground.

After regaining control of the board, the skateboarder struck the motorist over the head while a woman dressed in white, who had been inside the vehicle, repeatedly screamed for them to stop.

“Oh, my God,” O’Hara can be heard saying as the loud impact echoed through the street.

The skateboarder then placed the driver in a headlock while several bystanders attempted to persuade the pair to break apart.

“He attacked me,” the skateboarder shouted.

Another man who appeared to be with him claimed the driver had struck him with the Mercedes.

“He hit me with his car,” the man yelled at the crowd.

The video ends with O’Hara walking around the heavily damaged SUV before turning the camera back toward the fight, where the driver was still being held in the headlock.

O’Hara said he decided to leave at that point because he did not want the confrontation to ruin his otherwise “nice day.”

After he shared the footage online, it quickly drew more than 3 million views on X.

NYPD officers later arrived and found that the driver had lost consciousness while being held in the headlock, according to police. Paramedics transported him to Bellevue Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

The skateboarder fled before officers arrived, and no arrests had been made as the investigation continued.

Some social media users criticized O’Hara for recording the fight rather than stepping in, but he insisted it was not his responsibility to intervene in a violent confrontation between two adults.

“You’re clearly not from here,” he told his critics.

“This is New York City, we mind our own business here,” O’Hara said. “A stupid fight like that between two grown men, I’m not going to get involved in it.”

After learning that the driver had been knocked unconscious, O’Hara said the motorist should never have left the safety of his vehicle.

“Don’t get out of a car,” he said. “There’s no way in hell I would’ve gotten out of a car to fight somebody.”
