Cruise Passenger Found Dead in Cabin During Santorini Stop

A British cruise passenger was found dead inside her cabin while the ship was docked at the Greek island of Santorini, according to local reports.

The 62-year-old woman, who had been traveling through Greece, was discovered Sunday morning after crew members entered her room and found her unresponsive.

Emergency services were called, and the woman was removed from the ship at the port of Athinios before being taken to a hospital.

She was officially pronounced dead after arriving at the medical facility.

Local authorities have launched an investigation and ordered an autopsy to determine exactly how she died.

Police reportedly do not suspect foul play and believe the sudden death was most likely connected to a health issue. However, an official cause of death has not yet been confirmed.

The cruise ship reportedly continued along its planned route through the Aegean Sea after the woman was taken ashore.

The incident comes amid a series of recent deaths involving British passengers aboard cruise ships in Greek waters.

Last week, a 79-year-old British man was found unresponsive on the deck of a cruise ship sailing near Crete.

Crew members attempted to give him first aid before he was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

The emergency forced the vessel to dock on the island, according to the local coast guard.

The Chania Port Authority is handling the preliminary investigation and has also ordered an autopsy to establish his cause of death.

Earlier this month, another British passenger died aboard a cruise ship in Corfu.

The 67-year-old man passed away while the Maltese-flagged vessel was in port on the Greek island.

The latest tragedies come just two months after passengers aboard Princess Cruises’ Diamond Princess learned that their captain had died during a 19-day voyage through Asia.

Captain Michele Bartolomei, 52, suffered a medical emergency while the ship was docked in Keelung, Taiwan, in May.

Passengers reportedly first heard an announcement over the ship’s loudspeaker calling for the medical team to respond to an emergency.

They later received a letter informing them that Bartolomei, who lived in Canada, had died suddenly.

The announcement left travelers stunned after they learned the emergency involved the captain leading their voyage.
