Young Couple Caught on Video Sitting on Subway Tracks Before Being Fatally Struck

A young man and woman were killed in a horrifying New York City subway tragedy after they were seen sitting on the tracks moments before an oncoming train struck them, according to law-enforcement sources.

The pair, both 24 years old, were on the rails near Manhattan’s Spring Street station shortly before 3:15 a.m. Sunday when a southbound No. 4 train entered the station and hit them.

The man was from Sayreville, New Jersey, while the woman was from Dayton, New York.

Disturbing video from the scene reportedly shows the two sitting on the tracks and facing the approaching train as it barrels toward them.

Authorities said there was no indication that either person had been pushed or accidentally fallen onto the tracks.

Investigators are now looking into whether the pair may have been drinking before the deadly incident, according to sources.

Their names were not immediately released as police worked to notify their families.

Both victims died at the scene.

Police officers were later seen surrounding the station, where one of the bodies had been covered on the platform. The station appeared to have been temporarily shut down while investigators worked at the scene.

The deaths come just over a week after another deadly incident involving an MTA worker.

Moet McCullum, a 41-year-old mother of three who worked as a construction flagger, was killed Sept. 3 while working on southbound tracks at the 161st Street-Yankee Stadium station.

McCullum was struck by an arriving D train at around 11:30 p.m., according to the MTA.

Subway flaggers are responsible for warning train operators when workers are active on the tracks.

New York City has also seen several terrifying subway incidents in recent months.

In July, a 70-year-old woman was shoved onto the tracks at the 57th Street and Seventh Avenue station in Midtown Manhattan.

Good Samaritans rushed to help the injured woman before she could be hit by a train.

A month earlier, 47-year-old nurse Josue Romano was randomly shoved into the side of an incoming train in the Bronx.

Romano suffered a bloody concussion in the attack and later said he had almost no time to react before being pushed toward the moving train.

Sunday’s double fatality is now under investigation as authorities work to determine exactly why the young man and woman were sitting on the tracks before the train arrived.
