A Ryanair flight packed with vacationers headed to the Spanish island of Ibiza descended into chaos when a passenger allegedly refused to obey the seatbelt sign, triggering a violent confrontation that delayed the plane’s landing.
The midair brawl erupted October 5 aboard a flight traveling from London Stansted Airport to Ibiza, leaving passengers furious as flight attendants struggled to restore order.
According to witness Harry Watson, 28, the trouble began as the aircraft was preparing to land.
One male passenger reportedly stood up to use the bathroom despite the illuminated seatbelt sign, prompting several travelers to shout at him to return to his seat.
As the man walked back, another passenger confronted him verbally, and the situation quickly escalated.

“The lad didn’t like it, so he got angry and violent towards the guy, which caused a fight to break out,” Watson told Need To Know.
The confrontation reportedly continued even after other passengers attempted to intervene.
Watson claimed the disruptive traveler repeatedly lashed out at fellow passengers and had to be physically restrained several times.
At one point, another man allegedly joined the confrontation and struck him.
Video recorded inside the cabin shows several passengers gathered around a man in the aisle while a female flight attendant desperately attempts to regain control.
“Sit down!” the crew member can be heard shouting as the commotion continues.
The disturbance reportedly forced the pilots to postpone their landing preparations, keeping the aircraft in the air longer than expected.
Watson said frustration spread throughout the cabin as passengers realized the fight was delaying their arrival.
“Everyone got very annoyed after a while, especially because the plane couldn’t land and had to go back in the air again,” he explained.
By the time the aircraft finally landed at Ibiza Airport, Spanish police were already waiting.
Officers boarded the plane, handcuffed a male passenger, and escorted him away, according to Watson.
Ryanair confirmed that its crew had requested police assistance before landing because of a disruptive traveler.
“Police met the aircraft upon landing at Ibiza Airport, and the disruptive passenger was removed,” an airline spokesperson said.
The airline reiterated its strict zero-tolerance policy toward passenger misconduct, emphasizing that disruptive behavior can compromise the safety and comfort of everyone onboard.
The airline has taken similar action in previous incidents, including a 2025 case in which a passenger was convicted and fined after assaulting a crew member on a separate flight involving Ibiza.
Federal aviation safety guidance in the United States also emphasizes the importance of keeping seatbelts fastened when instructed by flight crews, particularly during takeoff, landing, and periods of turbulence.
Although passengers ultimately reached Ibiza, their vacation began with an unexpected confrontation instead of a routine landing.
Authorities have not publicly identified the passenger removed from the aircraft, and it remains unclear whether formal criminal charges have been filed.
The incident has since attracted attention online, with video of the cabin confrontation circulating on social media.
