Don Lemon, one of CNN’s most recognizable anchors, has been fired by the network after a 17-year tenure.
The news of his termination was initially shared by Lemon on his social media account, stating that he was informed by his agent, and no one from CNN management informed him directly.
CNN, however, released a statement refuting the claim, stating that they did reach out to Lemon and offered to meet with him, but he chose to release a statement on Twitter instead.
According to sources familiar with the situation, the decision to terminate Lemon was not personal but business-focused. Internal research showed that he was not connecting with CNN’s female-skewing audience in the morning.
This comes just two months after Lemon made controversial remarks about Nikki Haley, a Republican presidential hopeful, which reportedly upset his co-anchors.
Lemon had been anchoring “CNN This Morning” for nearly six months alongside Poppy Harlow and Kaitlan Collins. However, the morning show failed to gain traction with the audience, and according to reports, internal research showed that Lemon was not working well with CNN’s female audience.
The decision to terminate Lemon was part of the network’s plan to re-imagine the morning slot to compete more directly with “Morning Joe,” a show co-created by CEO Chris Licht when he was at MSNBC.
Earlier this month, Variety published a report that detailed allegations of misogyny, mocking female staffers, and reckless “diva-like” behavior from Lemon’s career.
Lemon vehemently denied the allegations, and a spokesperson for Lemon criticized the report for being “riddled with patently false anecdotes and no concrete evidence.”
The firing of Don Lemon marks the end of an era for CNN, which has seen several high-profile departures in recent years.
Lemon was one of the network’s most recognizable faces and had been with CNN for nearly two decades. His firing is sure to send shockwaves throughout the industry and raise questions about the network’s direction in the coming years.
Despite his termination, Lemon remains a respected journalist with a large following, and it is likely that he will continue to have a successful career in the media industry.
In a statement, CNN CEO Chris Licht thanked Lemon for his contributions over the past 17 years and wished him well in his future endeavors.

Looks like CNN is throwing out some of their TRASH
Guess Lemon being the worst of the CNN liars was bad for business…
Personally I always enjoyed Don Lemon
Lemon is a worthless piece of garbage, but he’ll probably end up on one of the other networks full of left wing lying radicals. I wouldn’t put it past MSNBC to hire his sorry ass.
