A 45-year-old man, Anurag Chandra, has been found guilty of first-degree murder and attempted murder after he rammed into a car carrying six teenagers, killing three of them, in Temescal Valley, California, in January 2020.

The incident occurred after the teens had been playing a game called “ding-dong-ditch,” a prank where they would ring doorbells and then drive away.

According to reports, Chandra became enraged after one of the boys rang his doorbell and showed his buttocks.

Chandra had reportedly consumed 12 beers hours before the incident and was concerned about the safety of his family. He allegedly pursued the teens in his car and rammed into their vehicle, causing it to crash into a tree.

Daniel Hawkins, Jacob Ivascu, and Drake Ruiz, all 16 years old, died as a result of the crash, while the remaining three teens sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Chandra claimed in court that he had not intended to crash into the boys’ car and did so after they braked suddenly. He also said that he did not stop after hitting them because he did not realize anyone had been injured.

Chandra’s sentencing is scheduled for July 14, and he faces life in prison without parole.

Riverside County District Attorney Mike Hestrin has described the incident as a “horrendous and senseless tragedy” for the community and called the verdict an “important step toward justice.”

The case highlights the dangers of reckless behavior and the importance of controlling one’s emotions. It is a tragic reminder that one moment of anger can have devastating consequences for many lives.

The families of the victims will never be able to forget the loss of their loved ones, and the community will forever mourn this senseless tragedy.

  1. Maybe the parents should have trained them better not to:
    1. Go on other people’s property for no constructive reason
    2. They shouldn’t even be driving a car if they are that immature if they are screwing around
    3. Maybe this will teach the families to raise their children better.
    4. While sad deaths occured, no empathy here as this is the result for poor decision making on both parts!
Quick Summary: Parents raise you children hetter and DO NOT give them a car until you know they are mature enough and responsible enough, especially when interacting with strangers. Some people DO NOT like to be bothered, so respect their privacy! That may be fine for the brats instigating not fun for the one on the receiving end!

  2. “Chandra consumed 12 beers before the incident” … How does this relate to fearing for the “safety of his family”? Because someone mooned him?
He wasn’t afraid – he was furious. His response says so..

Sure, it was a bad prank to pull, but not worth killing anyone over.
If you fear for your safety, you stay the hell behind locked doors, and call police if needed. Getting into your car while HIGHLY INTOXICATED, chasing down the offending people, and ramming their vehicle is ridiculous..

“He didn’t know anyone was injured…” Nope – he didn’t CARE.
Any skid marks need to be examined to see if he didn’t ram them on purpose.
Don’t know what brought this man to this place in his life, but his reaction to a PRANK destroyed FOUR families. Prayers for them all.
