In an effort to rescue their $100 million deal with streaming behemoth Netflix, Meghan Markle is rumored to be thinking about returning to acting.

She may even earn the lead part in the follow-up to the smash hit movie The Bodyguard from 1992, according to one Australian newspaper. If so, the narrative would be even more amazing because Princess Diana was once considered for the part.

Meghan reportedly has interest in the sequel, which Kevin Costner is reportedly pitching. The insider told New Idea magazine, “The only thing Kevin loves more than an underdog like Meghan is a box office hit.

The late Whitney Houston’s co-star Kevin Costner was in discussions with Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, about joining Diana in the sequel.
He claimed that the plot would have been “loosely based on her life” in a 2012 interview. Costner claimed that “the studio liked the idea of doing a Bodyguard 2” with Diana playing the role of the new love interest.

Bodyguard Frank Farmer’s persona would have been seen “protecting Diana’s character from stalkers and paparazzi before their relationship inevitably turned romantic” in that scene.
Costner claimed that he had even discussed the proposal over the phone with the Princess. “I just remember her being incredibly sweet on the phone, and she asked: ‘Are we going to have, like, a kissing scene?'” he recalled. She said it in a very polite manner. The celebrity continued, “I said: ‘Yeah,'” according to an interview with People magazine. There will probably be some [kissing], but we can make it work too.

Diana eventually came to the conclusion that she didn’t need a Hollywood movie because her life was already interesting enough. She allegedly said to Costner, “Look, my life may someday become my own. When it’s finished, when you finish this script, I’ll be in a great position. The second draft of the script is said to have been given to Costner, now 68, the day before Diana was murdered in a vehicle accident on August 31, 1997. Costner continued to work on the film. In 2017, during the couple’s first interview together, Meghan gave an explanation of why she decided to give up acting after becoming engaged to Prince Harry. Before getting her breakout role as Rachel Zane in the courtroom drama Suits, she made appearances in a variety of TV episodes and movies.

The Daily Mirror initially reported on the Bodyguard story from New Idea magazine and claimed to have gotten in touch with Meghan’s agents for comment.
