In a shocking and tragic incident, 49-year-old Watson Morgan, a sergeant with the Bronxville Police Department in New York, reportedly fatally shot his wife, Ornela Morgan, 43, and their two sons aged 10 and 12 before taking his own life. The devastating event unfolded at the family’s residence in the New City suburb of New York City.
The heartbreaking discovery was made by the police just after midnight on Friday when Watson Morgan failed to show up for his evening shift at work. The bodies of the family were found with gunshot wounds, and a handgun was recovered at the crime scene during the subsequent investigation.
Watson Morgan had a longstanding career in law enforcement, beginning in 2000 with the New York Police Department before joining the Bronxville Police Department in 2007. In 2016, he was promoted to the rank of sergeant.
Bronxville Police Chief Christopher Satriale expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident, stating that the department is grappling with “profoundly broken hearts at the senseless loss of innocent lives.” He extended condolences to Sergeant Morgan’s extended family and emphasized that their thoughts and prayers are also with the Bronxville Police Department family.
The Morgans, described by a neighbor as the “textbook, perfect American family,” have left their community in shock. The neighbor, expressing disbelief, said, “I never in a million years would expect [he] would do something like this. The kids were always out here playing outside, and their mom was just the sweetest person you ever met.”
As investigations into the motive behind this tragic incident unfold, the community is left grappling with the aftermath of the loss of four lives in what was once seen as an ordinary, happy family.
