Putin “Trolls” Tucker Carlson over questions

Russian President Vladimir Putin has openly criticized Tucker Carlson, the host of Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” for what he perceives as soft questioning during their recent interview in Moscow. Putin’s remarks came during an interview in Russia on Wednesday, where he expressed disappointment with Carlson’s approach.

In the interview, Putin stated, “To be honest, I thought that he would behave aggressively and ask so-called sharp questions.” He admitted that he was prepared for a more confrontational exchange and expressed a desire for the opportunity to respond accordingly. However, Putin claimed that he did not receive the satisfaction he had anticipated from the interview.

During their sitdown, Putin remarked that he was surprised by Carlson’s patience and willingness to listen to his lengthy monologues, particularly those concerning the history of Russia and Ukraine. Putin also questioned the meaningfulness of Carlson’s interview strategy, stating, “But to what degree it was meaningful at the end of the day, I cannot say.” Despite his disappointment, Putin acknowledged that Carlson had a plan going into the interview, although he did not elaborate on what that plan entailed.

The Kremlin indicated that Putin agreed to the interview with Carlson because of the host’s perceived departure from the “one-sided” reporting on the Ukraine conflict by many Western news outlets. However, Putin’s comments suggest that he may have expected a more adversarial exchange with Carlson, leading to a sense of dissatisfaction with the outcome.
