Former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger isn’t mincing words when it comes to what he calls a media smear job against Los Angeles. Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the Hollywood action star turned Republican governor took a blowtorch to mainstream coverage of the recent anti-ICE riots — blasting news outlets for portraying the City of Angels as a “war zone.”
“They act like the whole city is on fire,” Schwarzenegger said. “But the reality is maybe 0.001% of Los Angeles has seen trouble. The rest is just fine.”
The Terminator legend delivered his fiery remarks as the city continues to reel from escalating unrest. Over the weekend, violent demonstrations exploded across pockets of LA — with radicals hurling rocks and Molotov cocktails, torching police cars, and defacing federal buildings. President Trump responded by deploying 4,000 National Guard troops and 700 Marines to secure the streets and restore order.
While legacy media painted the protests as largely “peaceful,” footage told a different story — and Schwarzenegger’s had enough.
“I agree with you, Jimmy,” he told Kimmel. “They show it like it’s total chaos. But this isn’t Baghdad. This is LA.”
Schwarzenegger, a moderate Republican who’s never shied away from criticizing both parties, didn’t stop at the press. He took aim at Washington politicians for decades of failure on immigration.
“These protests wouldn’t even happen if the politicians did their jobs,” he said. “They’ve been kicking the can down the road for 30 years — Democrats and Republicans both. Why? Because it’s easier to point fingers and raise money than actually solve problems.”
He continued with a scathing analogy that drew laughs — and groans — from the late-night audience.
“Democrats are symbolized by a jackass. Republicans, by an elephant. You know what that leaves behind? A pile of dump,” Schwarzenegger quipped.
But beneath the humor, his message was deadly serious.
“We send people to Washington to be public servants. Instead, they’re just party servants,” he said. “The American people are fed up.”
Schwarzenegger’s Rebuke Echoes Growing GOP Sentiment
As Democratic leaders in Los Angeles attempt to downplay the chaos, conservatives across the country are pointing to the riots as yet another example of failed progressive leadership in major cities.
The National Guard and DHS remain posted across high-risk areas in LA, including the Metropolitan Detention Center, where federal officials are on high alert for more unrest.
And while Hollywood liberals continue to shield the Biden administration’s open-border policies, some — like Schwarzenegger — are daring to say what others won’t: that the crisis is real, it’s growing, and Washington is to blame.
“Both parties use immigration as a political football,” he said. “Meanwhile, our streets burn.”
Bottom Line: Schwarzenegger’s warning is clear — Americans are being lied to, the media is distorting reality, and political leaders on both sides are failing to lead. The real war zone? Washington, D.C.

For over 20 years now, I have wondered if Washington, D.C. could be compared to the professional wrestling industry, where the outcomes of every match are predetermined, and it’s all for show. We can only vote for the candidates the Parties submit for our approval. Neither major Party nor most of the media even talk about third-Party candidates. In the 2020 election, a candidate was on the ballots of all 50 states, but the news never carried her stories and she was denied permission to debate the other two candidates. Today, I have met people who weren’t even aware she ran.
