“President Trump is in excellent health,” the White House insists after bruised hands and swollen legs ignite internet frenzy

After days of viral speculation over President Donald Trump’s appearance — including photos showing swollen legs and bruised hands — the White House broke its silence with a detailed medical update aimed at shutting down the rumors once and for all.

The buzz began when eagle-eyed social media users zoomed in on Trump’s legs during his appearance at the FIFA Club World Cup final in New Jersey on Sunday. Just days later, new photos showed what looked like makeup-covered bruises on his right hand during a meeting with Bahrain’s Prime Minister. The images exploded across the internet, with conspiracy theories ranging from heart failure to hidden injuries.

But on Thursday afternoon, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stepped to the podium with a message straight from the top: “President Trump asked me to read this out loud in the interest of transparency,” she told reporters. “He’s not hiding anything.”

According to a memo from Trump’s physician, Navy Capt. Sean P. Barbabella, the president underwent a battery of tests in recent weeks after he noticed minor swelling in his lower legs — including Doppler ultrasounds, bloodwork, and an echocardiogram. The diagnosis? Chronic venous insufficiency — a harmless and common condition in older adults.

“There was no evidence of deep vein thrombosis. No arterial disease. No cardiac abnormalities,” Leavitt emphasized. “Every test came back clean.”

As for the bruised hands? Leavitt said the explanation is even simpler: handshakes and aspirin.

“President Trump takes low-dose aspirin as part of a routine cardiovascular health plan. Combine that with frequent handshaking — which he does every day — and minor bruising is expected,” she said.

Photos taken on July 16 appeared to show discoloration on Trump’s right hand. Some outlets even suggested the president was concealing an injury with makeup. But Leavitt dismissed that idea outright: “There’s nothing to hide. The president wanted the public to hear the truth directly.”

This isn’t the first time health speculation has swirled around a sitting president. Just last month, Biden dropped out of the 2024 race amid mounting concerns over cognitive and physical decline — an issue the White House said President Trump wants to avoid entirely.

“He trusts his doctors,” Leavitt added. “And he trusts the American people to see the energy and strength he brings to the job every day.”

The health update released by the White House reaffirmed Trump’s physical fitness: 6’3” tall, 224 pounds, with a resting heart rate of 62, and a blood pressure of 128/74. Oxygen levels: 99%. Temperature: 98.6°F. The memo concluded that Trump “remains in excellent health, exhibiting robust cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and general physical function.”

Though critics will likely continue to dig through photos and speculate online, Trump allies hope the medical report puts the rumors to rest.

“Donald Trump is the most energetic 78-year-old I’ve ever seen,” one senior campaign adviser told us. “The only thing swollen is the number of people showing up to his rallies.”

  1. Trump’s job requires too much sitting… he needs to play even more golf… without a power cart… except to haul drinks with a driver… also add in some tennis and jogging… healthier meals of lower calories… fewer carbonated drinks… so he doesn’t get gout…
