A Michigan man is facing serious charges after allegedly threatening an elementary school because his child didn’t receive a snack during class.
The incident reportedly took place on Wednesday, October 22, when 43-year-old David Scott Jr. picked up his child from Pleasantview Elementary School in Eastpointe. According to a press release from the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office, Scott became angry after learning that his child hadn’t been given a snack during snack time.
Authorities say Scott threatened violence against the school and told a teacher he would return the next day. The school immediately notified police, who later searched Scott’s home and found multiple rounds of ammunition.
Scott was arraigned the following day on charges that include possession of weapons and ammunition by a prohibited person, making an intentional threat of violence against a school or its staff, and disorderly conduct. He also received a “habitual offender — fourth offense notice,” which could lead to a harsher sentence if convicted.
According to police reports cited by WDIV Local 4 and CBS News, Scott allegedly told the teacher he would “air the place out,” a slang term referring to gun violence.
“There is absolutely no excuse for threatening violence against a school or its staff — especially over something as minor as a classroom snack,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido. “Our office takes all threats to schools seriously, and we will continue to pursue charges to ensure the safety of students, teachers, and our community.”
Community members expressed disbelief after hearing about the incident. “Your child goes here. Did you not think about what that can do to your kid?” said Eastpointe resident Eric Haley, speaking to Fox 8. Detroit resident Anike Wells added, “Over a snack? I don’t think that was called for at all.”
Scott’s bond has been set at $150,000 cash or surety, with no 10% option, and he has been ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation. His next court appearance is scheduled for November 5, according to Macomb County public records.

No wonder kids are killing people these days
It really is disturbing and disheartening how little it takes to set someone off in such a violent way.
