A horrifying moment at a crowded fair in India was caught on camera when a packed amusement ride suddenly collapsed, sending screaming children crashing to the ground.
At least 14 children were injured — two seriously — after a dragon-shaped giant swing gave way mid-ride on Monday at an annual fair in Madhya Pradesh. The ride reportedly slammed into a nearby wall as it broke apart, triggering panic among riders and onlookers alike.
Video shared widely on social media shows the terrifying seconds as the swing buckles, flinging young riders through the air while crowds scream. Moments later, people can be seen rushing toward the wreckage to help children lying injured on the ground.
Witnesses said the ride appeared dangerously overcrowded and unstable even before it collapsed. Several children suffered fractures, cuts, and severe bruising, while others were left dangling from the structure. Some of those hanging on were able to escape without injury.
“It looked weak even before the accident,” one onlooker told local media. “No one was checking anything.”
Police officials said early findings point to major safety failures. Superintendent Pratipal Singh Mahobia said investigators are examining whether the ride was overloaded and whether poor-quality materials were used in its construction.
The incident occurred at the Maharaj No Melo fair, where large crowds had gathered. Authorities have since launched a formal inquiry, and a special team of police officers and engineers has been assigned to determine exactly how the ride failed.
The shocking footage has sparked renewed concern online over safety standards at temporary fairgrounds, especially when rides are overcrowded and inspections appear to be lacking.
