A shocking act of revenge unfolded overseas after a woman who suspected her husband of cheating carried out a brutal attack that left him permanently injured — yet still defending her in court.
According to reports, a 58-year-old woman in South Korea allegedly targeted her husband after becoming convinced he was having an affair. The incident began when the 50-year-old man fell asleep while drinking alone at a coffee shop.
Police say the woman arrived at the café with her 40-year-old son-in-law, where the pair allegedly tied the man up using rope and industrial tape. Authorities claim the woman then stabbed her husband roughly 50 times before using a sharp weapon to sever his genitals and flush them down the toilet — eliminating any chance of surgical reattachment.
Emergency responders later discovered the man and rushed him to a hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery and survived. While doctors were able to save his life, officials say he was left with permanent physical injuries as well as lasting psychological trauma.
Despite the horrific nature of the attack, the victim reportedly asked the court to show leniency toward his wife ahead of her sentencing. That request was taken into account, and the woman was ultimately sentenced to seven years in prison. Her son-in-law received a four-year sentence for his role in the assault.
The case has drawn immediate comparisons to the infamous 1993 incident involving Lorena Bobbitt, who made international headlines after severing the genitals of her husband, John Wayne Bobbitt, in the United States. In that case, the severed body part was recovered and successfully reattached through surgery.
Lorena Bobbitt later said she acted after enduring repeated verbal, physical, and sexual abuse, maintaining that she had no regrets. Following psychiatric evaluations, she was acquitted after a court concluded she was temporarily insane at the time of the incident.
John Wayne Bobbitt, who was later found not guilty of marital sexual assault, has consistently denied abusing his former wife. In the years since, he has spoken publicly about seeking closure, acknowledging that both he and Lorena inflicted emotional damage as their marriage deteriorated.
The South Korean case, however, ends far differently — with irreversible injuries, lengthy prison sentences, and a victim whose unexpected plea for mercy added another unsettling layer to an already disturbing crime.
