Three Killed After Plane Plunges into the Ocean in Terrifying Incident (Video)

A small plane crashed into the ocean off the coast of southern Australia on Friday afternoon, killing all three people on board, including two teenage passengers and the pilot, authorities said.

The aircraft went down in the waters of Long Bay, roughly 50 miles south of Adelaide, near the coastal community of Goolwa South. An 18-year-old, a 19-year-old, and the 57-year-old pilot were all pronounced dead at the scene.

The horrifying crash unfolded in front of several beachgoers, one of whom captured video showing the plane plunging straight into the ocean.

According to South Australian Police, emergency crews received reports of the crash around 4:20 p.m. local time.

“Police and emergency services responded immediately,” the department said in a statement, confirming that the wreckage was later recovered and brought to shore.

A large-scale response followed, involving water police, a rescue helicopter, Sea Rescue teams, and multiple Country Fire Service vehicles as authorities searched the area and secured the crash site.

Investigators from the Australian Transport Safety Bureau are expected to examine the wreckage and begin a full investigation into what caused the aircraft to go down. Police said a report will also be prepared for the coroner.

The crash is believed to have occurred shortly after 4 p.m. Friday. Officials have not yet released details about the aircraft or what may have led to the deadly plunge, as the investigation remains ongoing.
