Six people, including a young child, were injured after an explosive device was thrown into a beauty salon in the French city of Grenoble, triggering panic in a busy downtown area.

The attack happened Friday afternoon around 2:45 p.m. local time, according to local reports. Authorities said the device was tossed inside the salon before the suspect fled, leaving customers and nearby residents shaken.

France’s National Police confirmed that six people were hurt, including a 5-year-old child. Officials with the Isère Prefecture said none of the victims required hospitalization and all were treated at the scene.

No arrests have been made, and investigators have not identified a suspect.

Witnesses described a chaotic and frightening scene as emergency crews flooded the area.

“I heard a huge explosion and three young girls screaming. They were with a child,” a nearby business owner told local media. “When I went outside, it looked like a major car accident. There were fire trucks everywhere and so many people. It was complete chaos.”

Hours after the blast, a video surfaced on social media that investigators believe may have been posted by those involved. The footage appears to show a masked individual attempting to force their way into the salon, throwing an object onto the floor, and then fleeing alongside the person filming.

Grenoble public prosecutor Étienne Manteaux said the explosive device was relatively small and appeared intended to intimidate rather than cause serious harm.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident as residents grapple with the shock of a daytime attack in a crowded city center.
