What started as a picture-perfect beach moment quickly turned into a vacation nightmare for German influencer Julia Willecke, better known online as Julia Beautx.
On the Jan. 30 episode of her podcast Die Nervigen, which she co-hosts with Josef Buchholz, the 26-year-old content creator opened up about a frightening monkey encounter during a solo trip to Krabi, Thailand.
According to Willecke, she was walking along a beach trail known for its monkey population when what seemed like an adorable moment unfolded.
“The cutest little baby monkey came running towards me and climbed all the way up onto my head,” she said. She even captured the sweet interaction on video and later shared it on Instagram.
But the situation escalated fast.
“Suddenly four other large monkeys came running towards me,” she recalled.
One of the monkeys jumped onto her shoulder and began fighting with the baby monkey sitting on her head. Another grabbed onto her thigh. Then things took an even more terrifying turn.
“This big old grandpa monkey went to my calf, clung on completely, and just bit down hard on my calf, out of nowhere,” she said. “He clamped his mouth on my leg, and I really couldn’t do anything.”
At first, Willecke wasn’t overly concerned about the bite. But when the wound began changing color — “like someone had given me a huge hickey, but so nasty,” she described — she panicked.
She rushed to a hospital, where she received a vaccination and antibiotics. After about 30 minutes, she was discharged. She continued taking prescribed antibiotics afterward and said she did not suffer any lasting injuries.
Despite the scare, Willecke appeared to stay positive. The influencer, who has more than 4 million Instagram followers, continued sharing photos from her Thailand trip, including beach and poolside snaps.
Just days later, on Feb. 10, she switched climates entirely, posting photos of herself bundled up in snowy Finland.
