A routine shopping trip turned into a drug scare nightmare after police say fentanyl was discovered inside Barbie doll packages being sold at a Missouri discount retailer.

The shocking find happened in Independence, where officers were called to Cargo Largo after store security flagged a suspicious powder hidden inside the packaging of a Barbie toy.

When authorities tested the substance, they confirmed it was fentanyl — the deadly synthetic drug fueling America’s ongoing overdose crisis.

Cops quickly launched an urgent investigation and discovered that five of the contaminated Barbie packages had already been sold to customers.

In a race against the clock, police tracked down every single unit. Within hours, all five tainted toys were recovered.

Officials say, for now, there’s no indication the dangerous dolls made it to other stores — and thankfully, no injuries have been reported.

Still, the incident raises alarming questions about how a lethal drug ended up inside children’s toys sitting on store shelves.

Police say the investigation remains active as they work to determine who tampered with the packages — and whether this was an isolated incident or something far more disturbing.
