Chaos erupted in Manhattan, NYC early Sunday morning after a suspected carjacker stole a yellow taxi and led police on a wild late-night chase.
According to police, 28-year-old Joseph Ryce jumped into the backseat of a parked cab outside Five Manhattan West in Midtown just after midnight. Instead of taking a ride, he allegedly ordered the driver out of the vehicle and took off behind the wheel.
What followed was a dangerous joyride through the West Side.
Authorities say Ryce sped down 10th Avenue and refused to pull over when officers attempted to stop him, turning the situation into a full-blown police chase.
The pursuit came to a crashing end when the stolen taxi slammed into an unmarked police vehicle.
Officers quickly surrounded the cab and took Ryce into custody at the scene.
Miraculously, no injuries were reported despite the high-speed chaos.
Ryce is now facing multiple charges, including grand larceny and robbery, as police continue to investigate the incident.
