Restaurant Bill Argument Turns Violent as Women Stab Each Other in Shocking Incident

What started as a simple argument over who would pay the bill turned into a violent scene that left multiple women injured inside a trendy downtown Los Angeles hotspot.

The chaos unfolded around 5 p.m. Sunday at Zaya, a swanky Italian restaurant known for its “dinner and a show” vibe, live music, and packed, party-like atmosphere.

According to reports, an all-female group had just finished their meal and was trying to settle the check when things suddenly spiraled.

Witnesses say voices were raised — and then it got physical.

In a shocking turn, one woman allegedly pulled out a knife while another grabbed a bottle, and the situation quickly turned into a full-blown melee.

Panicked diners watched as the fight escalated, with women slashing at each other in the middle of the restaurant.

Police and firefighters rushed to the scene as calls flooded in.

By the time it was over, at least four women between the ages of 26 and 37 had been taken to the hospital with injuries. Another woman, who suffered cuts to her face, refused treatment and walked out on her own.

Two women were arrested at the scene and later charged with assault with a deadly weapon, authorities said.

The aftermath shut down a busy downtown intersection as emergency crews flooded the area, with video showing police tape, ambulances, and firefighters lining the streets.

At one point, a suspect was reportedly seen fleeing with a folding knife along 7th Street and Grand Avenue.

Bystander footage captured the chaos, including a woman in a white dress being wheeled into an ambulance as stunned onlookers tried to process what had just happened.

Zaya, which was hosting a live event called “Sweet Serenade” at the time, later addressed the incident on social media.

“While some situations develop unexpectedly and are beyond our control, the safety of our guests and staff remains our highest priority,” the restaurant said, thanking staff and first responders for their quick action.

Known for its dim lighting, cocktails, and live jazz and soul performances, the venue is usually a place for a laid-back night out.

But on this night, a simple argument over the check turned into something far more dangerous.
