Handcuffed Woman Slips Out of Police Car Window in Wild Escape Caught on Video

A woman in Michigan is going viral after pulling off a jaw-dropping escape from the back of a police cruiser — and the whole thing was caught on camera.

The shocking incident happened Saturday, March 28, in Muskegon Heights, when an officer on patrol spotted a vehicle parked near an abandoned business around 3:30 p.m. As police investigated, officers identified the driver and used a fingerprint scanner to identify the female passenger, who they said had an outstanding parole violation warrant. She was then taken into custody, handcuffed, and placed in the back seat of a patrol car.

That is when things took a stunning turn.

While officers were still nearby searching the suspect vehicle, the woman managed to squeeze herself through the patrol car’s partially open rear window and take off on foot. Video captured by a bystander shows her leaning out of the window, carefully working one leg out, and then somehow wriggling her entire body through before running away while officers appeared not to notice right away.

The clip spread quickly online, in part because of the stunned reaction from the person filming. In the video, the bystander can be heard reacting in disbelief as the woman escapes and sprints away from the scene.

Police said officers immediately searched for her but could not find her that day. Authorities also said they believed she may have been involved in a breaking-and-entering incident at a nearby home later that afternoon, adding even more drama to the bizarre getaway.

But the escape did not last.

By Tuesday morning, March 31, police said the woman had been found inside an abandoned residence and taken back into custody without incident. Local reports said she was booked into the Muskegon County Jail and was facing multiple charges tied to the escape and related incidents
