A terrifying home invasion caught on a Ring doorbell camera is going viral—and the footage has people across the country shaken.
The incident unfolded around 9:30 a.m. on April 7, 2026, in a quiet neighborhood on Burbank Court in Fairfield, California, about 45 miles northeast of San Francisco. Inside the home were a mother and her young daughter, while the husband watched everything unfold in real time through the Ring app.
What started as a strange encounter quickly turned into a nightmare.
According to the video, a man later identified as Jason Thomas Nichols walked up to the front door and began asking questions about who was inside. At first, it seemed odd—but not necessarily dangerous. That changed fast.
Within moments, Nichols’ tone became aggressive. He repeatedly demanded to know where the child was, asking, “Where’s your daughter?” and “Who’s in there with you?”
When the homeowner told him to leave, things escalated.
Nichols began kicking and pounding on the front door, shouting threats and trying to force his way inside. At one point, he even struck the Ring camera and ripped it off the wall as the situation spiraled out of control.
Authorities say Nichols eventually made his way into the home through a sliding glass door—while the mother and child were still inside.

As the chaos unfolded, the husband rushed home and confronted the intruder. That confrontation reportedly turned physical, with a struggle that involved a shovel.
Police arrived shortly after and arrested Nichols at the scene.
Both men suffered injuries during the altercation, though thankfully, there have been no reports of life-threatening harm to the woman or child.
Nichols was booked into Solano County Jail and is now facing a long list of serious charges, including first-degree burglary, criminal threats, vandalism, and assault with a deadly weapon. Reports say additional charges involving a minor may also be added, possibly tied to a separate incident just days earlier.

We all know it’s California they will baby him and release him back into probably the same neighborhood. I can’t believe the wife didn’t call police considering her husband is on the phone not there. But I would think living in California with all the nuts and criminals people would have extra large dogs, like Mastiffs or Bullmastiffs. Not know to be vicious, usually will run knock people down and hold them and at 165 and up they aren’t getting away. I have them, best dogs for family and protection also not on those lists insurance companies create that you’re not allowed to have
